A downloadable game

For judges: please pass, this is an unfinished project, you have enough to look through!

Below are screenshots of the game and I actually recommend NOT downloading the build as the camera/player is very unfinished and gives me motion sickness. I would just look at these instead, but I wont stop you if you want to see them in-game. Theres an opening behind the player to get out of the cell and into a very (too dark) hallway but you can get out!

Mostly used the jam to push myself to get used to unreal engine, so in that regard I learned a lot and am proud that I submitted something, but this is mostly just for my personal records to upload what i did in the two weeks, and to look back on someday if I ever want to continue working on it.

Things I learned:
-Lighting/HDRI maps
-Collision
-That meshes need to NOT be a plane for walls/floors/etc because light just passes through the other side, oops
-Camera?? I sort of touched on it for changing the third person camera to first person, but thats about it
-general workflow
-a lot of small things im sure, mostly just gaining confidence in making my own games

There was a lot I wanted to do, like VFX, cut scenes/dialogue, and i had some human models for the player/npcs, but that will be for next time as I continue to get faster and more familiar with Unreal. I got bogged down by GDC and other work so I didnt have the time i wanted to work on the game, but im happy that I stuck with it.

The Aberration: The Speaker (Armillary sphere shows the future and the past, though is unclear on which it is showing)

Hallway to The Speaker: (Tri door that originally planned to open to descending stairs, but was cut for time and now just leads to The Speaker's room)

Main Area/Gathering room: Originally a human who came from The Speaker's room was to be shown melting away/dying in the center of the room from gaining forbidden knowledge, showing the player that The speaker is dangerous and why multiple cells of people are in the facility.

The cells are the black rectangles/windows and are just empty rooms. Only the players cell they spawn in has an interior. A blockade of onlooking people around the now melted away human in the center of the room was to prevent the player from going into unnecessary rooms.

Had lots of fun, hope I can try again soon or maybe work on this again sometime in the future :)
